The Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show Culinary Stage

Los Angeles Travel Adventure Show (adventureexpo.com)The Los Angeles area is getting a couple of big travel shows in January, the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show and the Los Angeles Times Travel & Adventure Show. The former is first, coming to Long Beach January 14-15, 2012. There will be a lot of great on-the-spot travel packages and deals available at the exhibitors’ booths, and a few shows; The Culinary Stage, for example, will feature the International Fiery Foods Challenge. This is one I will definitely attend. Various destinations found at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show will have their local chefs cooking up spicy representatives of their homeland. The foods that attendees can sampleĀ  include Medjool Dates with chorizo, mascarpone and Tunisian harissa (a chili sauce), Spicy Tequila Marinated Prawns, Rendang Padang (Indonesian Caramelized Beef Curry) and a kind of German meatball called Frikadelle.

Fiery Foods on the Culinary Stage (adventureexpo.com)The Culinary Stage at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show will also feature the Mark DeCarlo Interactive Cooking Class and Competition: three audience members picked and random will recreate a dish on the stage, and the winner — chosen by the audience — will win an all-inclusive Yucatan vacation. Pretty exciting! I can’t wait to see who wins. If you want to have a chance to particicipate, you must register before 3:00 PM Saturday.

The Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show’s Presenting Sponsor is the Taiwan Tourism Bureau. On Sunday, the Culinary Stage will highlight Taiwanese cuisine with a “Taiwan Popcorn Chicken” demonstration with Chef Francis Lee of the Mighty Boba Truck. There are other cooking demonstrations (and samples for the audience!) throughout the weekend. In addition, there will be a panel for culinary travelers. “Travel for Foodies — Tips, Trends, and Tools for the Culinary Traveler” will feature advice and discussion from travel and food experts Dr. Kathy Gruver, Michael Cervin, Linda Kissam, and Chef Allan Cragg.

I’m using HereStay.com to search for available vacation homes in the los angeles area. As a fan of spicy foods, if I’m able to find one on HereStay at a good rate, I’ll definately make the International Firey Foods Challange a stop on my itenary.
