Guess what’s right around the corner? The annual Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show, that’s what. This year, Unicomm is moving the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show to Long Beach! Long Beach is right down the road from LA, and I can’t count the times my family and I have driven down there for a Saturday at the Long Beach Aquarium. It’s an easy drive from anywhere in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show is January 14-15, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Disclosure: LACOT is an online media partner with the event, and I’ll be moderating a panel about recommended travel apps. But there is SO much more to see and do at the Travel & Adventure Show. I’ve been to the show several years running (in downtown Los Angeles) and it’s always a fun time. There are hundreds of exhibitors in the main hall, representing destinations in the United States and many other countries. They are happy to help guests decide if their destinations are right for our next big vacations, and can offer on-the-spot, exclusive specials and trip giveaways. Many, many people travel to Unicomm’s Travel & Adventure Shows in cities like Chicago, NYC, and Washington DC to plan their yearly trips. We Angelenos lucky that we don’t have to travel very far to take advantage of the benefits of the weekend event.
Guests don’t just wander around the Exhibition Hall talking to different destination reps, though — there are hands-on activities such as a scuba pool, rock-climbing wall and zip line, as well as something I’m still screwing up my courage to try; the Fiery Foods Challenge sounds like it could be the end of my gastrointestinal health!
There are plenty of awesome speakers coming to share their expertise as well. Famous travel expert Samantha Brown, the host of Travel Channel shows like “Samantha Brown’s Great Getaways” and “Passport to Europe” will be making a return visit to the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show. Mark DeCarlo, author of A Fork on the Road and star of Travel Channel show “Taste of America with Mark DeCarlo” will be there, as well as award-winning travel expert Peter Greenberg, of CBS News fame and host of Peter Greenberg Worldwide. Patricia Shultz, Andrew Zimmern, and Pauline and Arthur Frommer round out the star attraction experts coming to the show.
Show hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 PM both Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of January. Kids under the age of 16 are free, and tickets are available at www.adventureexpo.com or at the door. Use coupon code LACOT to bring the $10.00 price of admission down to $7.00.
Long story short? Come to the Long Beach Convention Center for the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show, use Promo Code: LACOT for a rebate on your ticket, and have a terrific time in Long Beach! Hope to see you there.
